Congratulations to Britney Bruce, a social work master’s degree (MASW) student in the department of family studies and social work. She wrote a grant that was funded by National Crime Victims’ Right Week Grant awarded by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office awards. Her proposal, awarded $1500, is to create a billboard that will run March 28 – April 24th on by-pass 4 at Bridgewater Falls in Fairfield.
Here’s what Britney told us about the experience:
“I wrote a grant proposal for the Center for Family Solutions (CFS) to obtain $1500 in order to obtain billboard space for an event which they put on every year. I worked on the grant from start to finish. I realized that the skills involved with grant writing are essential in order to make myself more marketable for my future work and what better way than to just jump right in?
I hope more people will be aware of this amazing event that CFS puts on every year! It’s free to the residents of Butler County and [the billboard] is to encourage them to get out there and do something fun together while having a resource fair at the same time. [The event] is for community members to start to gain connections to local services.
I am very proud that I was able to work on this project and I’m excited that this amazing agency is able to market their event. I was assigned to this agency for my spring internship and I’ve learned some amazing skills which can help me for my future career.”
